The Bible tells us that in the beginning God created the universe and everything in it, including us. He did so so that
we could have an intimate and personal relationship with Him but something went wrong and that relationship was broken.
The only reason we don't have a real relationship with God, our creator is because of our sin. What's sin? It's
when we say things like "I don't need God", "I can do what I want", "it doesn't matter what you believe it's how you
live that matters", It is also when we do things that are wrong, things that contravene God's laws, like murder, stealing
etc, etc.
The problem is that God is Holy and we aren't. That means there's a huge barrier between us. God loved you
so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to come and 'bridge' that gulf. How did He do that? Firstly He laid
aside His divine nature and became a man like us, born into our world as a human baby. Some 30 years later, although He lived
a life of innocence, He was betrayed and condemmned to death. He was righteous and Holy but still was executed like a
common criminal when He was nailed to a wooden cross and left to die. He was crucified as a sinner. He never sinned but you
did. So He died in your place. You deserved that death but, because He loves you He died there instead
of you. He paid the price for your sin so taht you can be set free.
But the story doesn't end there. Three days after his death Jesus rose from the dead proving that God has power not only
over sin but also over the grave.
The only thing needed now.. to make it real for you... is for you to believe it and accept it! It really is that
simple.
Through the cross of Jesus Christ, God offers us life, hope, freedom, forgiveness and fellowship... but ONLY on His terms.
That is by believing what He said about it... for example:
"For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him may not perish but have everlasting
life". (John.3:16)
"... if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you
WILL BE SAVED..... for, "EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved". (Romans.10:9 & 13.)
Saved from what? Our sin, our separation from God, our sinfulness, our emptiness, our guilt, our punishment, hell.
"No one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again". (John.3:3.)
